Koinobori (Wind Sock Craft) Childrens Workshop
Children will learn about the Japanese tradition of koinobori, colorful carp streamers that
symbolize strength, perseverance, and good fortune.
45 minute workshop. Each child will decorate their own vibrant wind sock to take home.
Child must be accompanied by an adult 18+. One adult per child. They are only there to assist child and do not require a ticket.
1 set of craft supplies per ticket.
This workshop is best suited for ages 5-13 years old.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP LEADER:
Rachel Taylor was born in the Midwest and has called the Kansas City area home since the early 2000s. She currently lives in Johnson County with her two children.
Taylor is a Johnson County Community College (JCCC) alumna, where she earned an A.A.S. in Entrepreneurship. She continued her education at Arizona State University, where her focus shifted to the fine arts. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with honors in Digital Photography. Her conceptual photography has been featured in galleries, magazines, and on Arizona State University’s Digital Photography website. After graduating from ASU, Taylor joined the AmeriCorps program Teach for America, where she developed a passion for its mission of expanding educational opportunities for students in historically underserved communities. During her first two years in the classroom, Taylor continued her own education while teaching, earning a Master of Education (M.Ed.) from the University of Missouri–St. Louis.
Today, Rachel Taylor is a 9th-grade English instructor at Frontier Schools in Kansas City, Missouri, where she brings her background in the arts, creativity, and passion for education into the classroom.
