Princess Tutu is a dark, metaphorical fairy tale and magical girl anime about a duck named Ahiru who, granted a pendant by the mysterious Drosselmeyer, can transform into the ballerina Princess Tutu. Tasked with collecting the scattered shards of Prince Muto’s broken heart to restore his emotions, Ahiru discovers she is a character trapped in an unfinished story. The series uses ballet, classical music, and themes of fate, free will, and self-discovery to tell a complex story about characters who struggle against their predetermined roles and seek to define their own destinies.
