Calligraphy Workshops

Also known as shodou (the way of the brush), this art form is a revered centuries-old tradition and Zen practice which evokes harmony, beauty, and balance.

Participants will learn how to prepare their mind for shodou and how to engage the brush and ink with the paper while practicing standard brush strokes used in writing kanji characters. Each participant will complete their own calligraphy omiyage* piece to display in their home. All supplies are provided.

Each workshop is limited to 20 participants and is best suited for ages 13 and older.

*omiyage means souvenir or gift
