To our faithful attendees and participants,
With all of the uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus situation, we regretfully have made the decision to cancel the Saturday, October 3, 2020, Greater Kansas City Japan Festival.
As you know, planning and executing the GKCJF festival starts in the first and second quarter of every year as we begin the process of developing promotional material, begin fundraising, starting to contact performers, vendors, etc. Logistically we are not able to virtually plan nor coordinate a worthy festival very effectively.
In addition, with the uncertainty about what the situation will be in October, we decided it would not be appropriate to rush these coordination and planning activities.
There are many vendors who rely on the festival for exposure and income, as well as a sleuth of volunteers (students and adults alike) who look forward to participating in the festival affected by this decision. We are truly sorry for any disappointment this decision has brought.
The good news is that our planning partners at Johnson County Community College have allowed us a confirmed date for the 2021 festival. That date has been set for Saturday, October 2, 2021. Stay tuned and watch for information about our 2021 on our website in early 2021.
We will you all well and please do your best to stay healthy and take care of yourself and others.
The Committee for the Greater Kansas City Japan Festival
